Honeymoons and Romantic Getaways

The word honeymoon usually means a couple searching for a romantic honeymoon, honeymoon vacation and honeymoon package. After I think a bit more the words Caribbean honeymoon and Hawaii honeymoon immediately come to mind.

A Caribbean honeymoon often means Sandals resorts and romantic vacations to Jamaica and romantic getaways to St. Lucia. Hawaii brings thoughts of Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays and the beauty of Hawaii. Two great choices but just one honeymoon or romantic getaway so how do you decide?

Most people decide based upon how much money they have to spend. But in choosing between a Caribbean honeymoon and a Hawaii honeymoon, time is probably the most important thing to consider. 

If you have less than a week for your honeymoon and you do not live on the West coast then a Caribbean honeymoon is probably best for you. Hawaii is about a 12-hour plane ride from the major gateway cities of the East coast and Midwest. You don't want to go there for 3 to 4 days and turn around and spend that much time on the plane again when a romantic vacation to the Caribbean is just 3-4 hours away. If you have the time, 7 to 14 days, than Hawaii makes some sense.

Money should be your next concern. If you go to the Caribbean for your honeymoon, you will probably end up with an all-inclusive vacation package. Your romantic getaway package will include the air, transfers, the resort stay, all meals, unlimited drinks, all tips and depending on the resort some if not all of the resort activities while you are there. Most of the resorts we feature on this web-site in Cancun, the Riviera Maya, Punta Cana and Jamaica are excellent choices for a honeymoon vacation and some even offer special romantic honeymoon packages.

If you are thinking of an all-inclusive honeymoon in the Caribbean, we strongly suggest you consider one Sandals resorts. Sandals really specializes in couples only romantic vacations. Sandals only has all-inclusive honeymoons that include almost everything. The price may seem high at first but when you add in all the extras you will spend money on at other places a Sandals package usually comes out very competitively. With a Sandals package you really don't have to spend another dime. It's nice to know exactly how much it will cost before you go. Since each of their resorts is adults only and couples only they are really conducive to a more romantic ambiance.

A Hawaii honeymoon is a different story. First of all there are no all inclusive Hawaii vacation packages.  In Hawaii you are on your own for meals, drinks, tips and activities. Keep this in mind when you compare prices and don't think food and drinks are cheap in Hawaii. A Hawaiian honeymoon is a classic that takes more time to plan and requires you to be a bit more conscious about budgeting your money while you are there.

Hawaii does offer you 5 extremely beautiful islands each in its own way a special paradise. You are not leaving the United States so language and driving rules are what you are used to. Renting a car is simpler and safe and there is so much to see and do on your own schedule. Each island is small enough to get to things easily but large enough that you will need your own transportation. Most people want a few days on Oahu and then some time on one or two of the other islands. Since each island offers a different experience, and its own unique feel, most people want to visit more than one.  Most people pick Oahu and Maui for a shorter stay and add either Kauai or the big island if the stay stretches to 2 weeks.

If you have do 2 weeks or more to spend, you might find that 2 weeks on a Caribbean island starts to get a little old. Although each island is beautiful and has things to do they just don't measure up to the full range of what Hawaii offers for a longer vacation.
