English is widely spoken. Drinking Water: The water in the Hotel Zone is treated and purified. In most hotels and restaurants in the Hotel Zone, you will get purified water. It is best to use bottled water whenever you leave your hotel. Do not drink a beverage with ice cubes outside of the Hotel Zone.

beaches, which seem to be exclusive to the Caribbean sea. The combination of the warm crystal clear water and the soft warm sand make for near perfect conditions. The most popular beaches seem to be anywhere along
the Hotel Zone, which runs the entire length of Cancun Island. There are many other beaches near Cancun that are worthy of a day trip. The beaches are one of Cancun's most famous attractions, and everyone seems to
enjoy the endless activities that abound on almost every beach. Volleyball, parasailing, snorkeling, wave-runners or just a relaxing day in a hammock, it is your choice and all easily available all along the many
miles of incredible beaches. Watersports: Cancun is naturally a haven for water sports of all kinds. Almost every beach has vendors that offer parasailing, banana rides,
jet skis and Parasailing. World class scuba diving is available at many nearby locations, most notably, the islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres. A wide variety of packages are available. Snorkeling is practiced
everywhere but the best locations are generally away from Cancun proper. A modern water park with a wave making machine, rivers, slides, a free fall thrill ride and restaurants, is located near Punta Nizúúc. Diving: The waters of the Caribbean are noted for their clarity. Sportfishing: Cancun and the surrounding area offer some excellent sportfishing opportunities. Deep sea fishing in the outer Caribbean for sailfish, marlin, dorado, wahoo, grouper and bluefin tuna can be incredible.
Golf: If you are a golfer or a tennis player, you will not be disappointed with Cancun. Two championship 18 hole golf courses are located in Cancun proper. There are also two 3 par executive courses and a miniature golf course for the kids (and grownups). There are two more 18 hole courses less than an hours drive away. One is at Playacar, next to Playa del Carmen, and another is located at Puerto Aventuras a little farther down the coast.
Food and Drink: Yucatan cooking has gained a reputation as one of the finest in all Mexico. Cancun offers fine seafood, gourmet dinning, American fast food franchises, internationally trained chefs, Italian and French cuisine, ribs, stakes and a little bit of just about everything. European and American recipes mingled with local traditions. You still have to be very careful not to eat uncooked fruits and vegetables whenever you are outside of the Hotel Zone.
Nightlife: Cancun is famous all over the world for it's nightlife. After dark Cancun really springs to life. The nightlife starts late here and lasts into the wee
hours of the next day. Frequently live music is featured in nightclubs and some interesting shows are occasionally featured. Shopping: Cancun is paradise for the casual
or very serious shopper. There are open air markets, open air malls, indoor malls and specialty shops of every shape and size. There are a few outdoor flea markets. Finer shops are located in the tourist zone, but
don't leave without looking for some bargains in the downtown area. Tipping: Bring plenty of U.S. one-dollar bills for tipping. The usual rules apply in Cancun; bellhops should receive one to two dollars per bag, and guestroom maids should receive one to two dollars per day.
Clothing: Lightweight casual wear. Long pants may be required in restaurants.
